You will have the chance to acquire a diverse range of engaging and challenging legal and commercial experiences, while receiving guidance and supervision from a seasoned commercial lawyer with over 15 years of experience. This role will help you develop solid legal skills, business acumen, and customer relationship management abilities, grooming you to excel as an in-house legal professional.

You will collaborate with internal stakeholders on various legal issues, such as negotiating and drafting procurement contracts with major Australian companies.

In addition, some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting basic document reviews and providing advice to senior staff as necessary
  • Assisting in drafting and preparing legal documents
  • Communicating with internal stakeholders to achieve business goals
  • Completing documents with guidance from senior staff
  • Researching legal developments relevant to the company
  • Managing filing and providing administrative support as required

This is a part-time role, with a minimum commitment of three days per week. Ideally, your work days for the first 6 to 12 months will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We also offer some flexibility to work fewer hours during exam periods and potentially increase hours during semester breaks.

Who we are seeking

We are looking for individuals currently pursuing or having completed a Bachelor of Laws, preferably in the second or third year.

To thrive in this role, you should possess strong technical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

You must be well-organized, have strong drafting skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills to build connections across various departments.

An enthusiasm for corporate law, contracts, procurement, and commercial affairs will be advantageous.

Requirements

To qualify for this opportunity, you should be currently enrolled in or have completed a Law degree from an Australian university:

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a Bachelor of Laws, preferably in the second or third year
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in corporate law
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Be a collaborative and team-oriented individual
