The Nurse/Midwife to Patient Ratio (NMTP Ratio) Team has been established to lead the co-design of a NMTP Ratio model for the South Australia public sector, draft NMTP ratio legislation and support system transition.

The Legal Officer is accountable to the Director, Strategic Workforce Relations for managing and providing a high quality legal advisory service to support the implementation of NMTP Ratios

The Legal Officer will:

  • Prepare advice and expert contribution to the development of legislation, legislative policy, and legal advice in relation to the nurse/midwife to patient ratio policy, model and the transition introduction of NMTP Ratios.
  • Review regulations, draft policies, and processes to ensure they comply with all statutory and legal requirements, including any consultation obligations.
  • Manage and undertake the development and implementation of projects and processes which facilitate and support new and amended legislation through Departmental, Cabinet and Parliamentary processes.
  • Undertake research and analysis and prepare complex legal documents in response to requests for legal advice.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (mínimal patient contact)


SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

  • A Degree in Law and admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
