ABOUT THE ROLEAs the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Open Doors, you will hold a pivotal executive leadership role, collaborating closely with the Executive Team to drive and execute organisational strategy in alignment with our mission and vision.

Your responsibilities will encompass leadership and oversight of Finance, Risk and Technology functions, ensuring that they are effectively managed to support the achievement of our strategic goals.

You will be entrusted with overall financial and business management, risk mitigation, compliance adherence, technology optimisation, and asset management.

Leading a small team of dedicated individuals and consultants, you will design, deliver, and enhance initiatives and processes that enable the mission of Open Doors.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and shaping overall organisational strategy in collaboration with the Executive team within the strategic planning framework.
  • Enable the execution of ministry strategy through Finance, Technology, Compliance, and Risk Management.
  • Represent Finance, Technology, Compliance, and Risk Management in Executive discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Oversee ODANZ Finance, Technology, and Risk & Compliance functions in alignment with organisational strategy and Open Doors international practices.
  • Optimise processes and technology within the department functions to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with organisational goals and best practices.
  • Ensure legal, ethical, and professional practices are consistent with the ministry's values and policies.
  • Maintain awareness of external financial, governmental, business, and industry components affecting the organisation.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEFor this role, we are ideally seeking the following:

  • Member of CPA Australia or ICANZ (or equivalent) and at least 5 years' experience at leadership level
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a wide cross-section of people
  • Working understanding of software accounting systems
  • Strong financial analysis and budgeting skills
  • Technology management experience
  • Experience in managing a risk and compliance framework
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Clear understanding of the Not-for-Profit sector and its governance requirements
