Three-year fixed term contract - open to both part-time and full-time work arrangements (flexible work arrangements)


The Division of Research and Innovation (DRI) provides leadership in achieving the University's strategic goals, particularly in relation to research education strategy, services, infrastructure and supporting the development of world-class research, both nationally and internationally.


The CADR-RAS is governed by an agreement between the DRI and (Defence Science Technology Group) DSTG which was established on 09 June 2021 and will be operational until 30 June 2026.


The Centre Manager will take significant intellectual responsibility in implementing the strategic direction of the Centre, at the direction of the Steering Committee.

The Centre Manager will develop a Program of Activities and use their best endeavours to implement the Program of Activities, as agreed by the Steering Committee.

Day to day management will be through the DSI with the Centre Manager operating with a high overall degree of autonomy.


The Centre Manager in consultation with the Technical Committee, will actively engage with the broader research community, particularly with a view to developing collaborative research projects intended to find innovative solutions to defence research problems within the Designated Field.

The Centre Manager will manage the Centre's activities in a coordinated way, working collaboratively with all stakeholders managing its research activities and coordinating research effort, whilst ensuring compliance with the UoA obligations under the CADR-RAS Agreement.


To be successful you will need:

  • demonstrated experience in the delivery of high-level executive support functions;
- demonstrated experience in the provision of high-quality management and advisory services, including the preparation of risk, progress, and financial reports and/or schedules;
- demonstrated experience in the management and delivery of programs to a strict deadline;
- demonstrated ability to work effectively in an autonomous capacity and in a team environment under broad direction;
- demonstrated commitment to a customer service culture and significant experience in relationship management, supported by excellent high level written and verbal communication skills.
