Ensure we have a reliable pipeline of critical entry level roles, trained to a high standard, and continue to build skills to support the company's operational and diversity ambitions:

  • Truck Drivers
  • Heavy mobile equipment operators
  • Production Operators (asphalt and recycling)
  • Laboratory Technicians
  • Auto Electrical, Fabrication and Mechanical Trades

Safety / Environment

  • Work with Group Safety Manager to deliver requirements of the annual Safety Plan
  • Schedule external trainer to deliver safety culture training
  • Work with external training and certification partners to deliver safety and compliance training

Workforce Planning

  • Develop annual workforce plan for entry level roles with the leadership team including agreed diversity targets
  • Manage work experience, apprenticeship and traineeship arrangements

Training

  • Develop annual training plans for unskilled, entrylevel roles with operational leaders and the leadership team
  • Develop annual training schedule for the business
  • Ensure existing employees are quickly developed to higher skill levels and into more valuable roles
  • Evaluate, select, schedule and project manage inhouse and thirdparty training programs (including leveraging existing Hanson and Heidelberg training materials)
  • Develop training programs for specific roles in house or with thirdparty partners
  • Support Group Safety Manager to coordinate specialist safety training (e.g. Mates Training, Mental Health First Aid)
  • Ensure training records are maintained in OneTeam>Learning Management System for training under control
  • Work with Operator Trainer, Transport Driver Trainers and HSEQ Advisers to ensure curriculum and competencies are developed to support pipeline of entry level roles
  • Deliver some training material depending on area of competence
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training as implemented

Partnerships

  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with trusted suppliers for training (e.g. Wodonga TAFE), assessment and licensing
  • Develop and manage relationships with apprenticeship providers and associated learning and education networks
  • Develop resources to support school and career adviser engagement
  • Secure government funding where appropriate

Key Criteria

  • Cert IV Training and Assessment or higher
  • OHS qualification
  • Excellent interpersonal skills ability to influence others and develop positive relationships
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management skills
  • Computer literacy with advanced Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and database skills
  • Experience with industrial environments
  • Tender writing and contract management
