About You
- You have demonstrated experience in implementing and evaluating initiatives within diverse and complex health environments to ensure effective patient flow practices and safe patient outcomes.
- You have demonstrated capacity to integrate the principles of clinical governance, quality improvements, evidence based practice and patient centred care into the delivery of contemporary nursing services.
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse (Division1) with relevant tertiary qualifications in health management or working towards same and/or equivalent experience in nurse management.
What you'll be doing
The NUM role is responsible for the coordination of patient services, unit management and nursing staff management within a patient services/ward or unit.
The NUM is pivotal to the overall responsibility for the health care environment, standard of patient care, providing positive patient experiences and outcomes.
As a clinical leader, the NUM provides leadership to the profession of nursing maintaining an accountability for culture, quality and safety, patient flow, financial management, change management and resource allocation and utilisation.
Fundamental roles of the Nurse Manager are;
- Responsible for the overall management of nursing services across the Discharge Lounge Ward.
- Lead and manage standards of nursing practice, patient care and patient experience.
- Ensure safe and efficient patient flow practices within the Service and contribute to strategic patient flow planning in consultation with facility/community Directors of Nursing and Midwifery and Patient Flow Managers.
- Enhance organisational performance through coordination of care, effective models of care and the integration of corporate and clinical practice initiatives.
- Lead cultural change through practice development, teamwork and transformational leadership that contributes to improved patient outcomes within the Directorate.
- Work with the Manager DASHARP in monitoring and evaluation of a performance review and professional development programs for Nursing Unit Managers and Nurse Managers.
