The Opportunity:

  • The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a PSL 5 Broadcast Support Officer within Digital Recording Services Branch.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to join the Broadcasting Infrastructure and Support team to deliver services including maintaining, supporting and renewing broadcasting facilities for the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) at Australian Parliament House.
  • Parliamentary Broadcasting produces and distributes live audio and video coverage of all proceedings of the two chambers and the Federation Chamber, televises selected parliamentary proceedings in Parliament House and provides audio coverage of hearings held in other venues around Australia as well as multimedia and audiovisual services within Parliament House.

Who we are looking for:

  • Our ideal Broadcast Support Officer will have:
  • Experience in providing technical support, ideally within a broadcast context.
  • Demonstrated capability around analysing and troubleshooting issues.
  • Ability to work under time restraints and prioritise in order of onair importance.
  • Willingness to work on a shift roster aligned with the commitments of the Parliament.

Job Specific Requirements:

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

  • Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the PSL 5 classification.
The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Undertake with autonomy and accountability technical support work that is more complex in nature. This may include (but is not limited to) the installation, setup, operation, upgrade, maintenance and repair of broadcast and communication facilities throughout Parliament House in accordance with defined operational practices, industry and building standards, and service level agreements.
  • Proactively monitor and action service calls, maintenance schedules and compliance activities.
  • Routinely and effectively engage with our stakeholders in a manner that builds and maintains rapport and assists with proactively identifying issues and areas for improvement.
  • Routinely assist and support staff within the team and the section in all facets of broadcast infrastructure and support by proactively engaging, mentoring, providing handson instruction and sharing knowledge.
  • Develop a working understanding of the technical support and services delivered by the team.
  • Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of work practices, workflows, processes, maintenance programs and technical documentation required for effective and efficient outcomes.
  • Undertake other duties as required to support the section.
  • Employees of DPS are required to be able, and to be seen to be able, to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice._
