About the team:

Coles Express has recently been acquired by Viva Energy Retail, Australia's largest single branded convenience and retail network.


Viva Energy Retail is a mobility and convenience division of Viva Energy Australia with a high-quality national network of fuel and convenience stores located in metro, regional and on main transport routes, and provides an advantaged position to serve the on-road and local suburban convenience markets.


About the role:


Supporting the Business Innovation Manager, the Product Technologist, Food-to-Go (FTG) will ensure product compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and Own Brand strategy at launch and whilst product remain on sale.


You'll also:

  • Deliver supplier accountability & performance in food safety, legality, compliance, responsible sourcing and repeatable quality
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers to manage the launch of new products, speed to market, provision of market leading value & launch of strategic initiatives
  • Create value by evolving and executing brand strategy, product maintenance and quality enhancements in partnership with other team members in the FTG team.
  • Utilise feedback sources (complaints, returns, regulator contacts, DC and store feedback) to promptly action adverse product performance or compliance
  • Maintain Product Life cycle QMS for Own Brand products
  • Collaborate with stores to effectively execute new product ranging

About you and your skills:


You will have demonstrated experience working in retail or food service supply base, with relevant industry experience in ready-to-eat foods (high risk food processing is preferable).


You'll also have:

  • Working knowledge into trending industry sustainability practices (RSPCA, RFA, recycling)
  • Proven experience in supplier management, investigations, corrective action, audit response & data analysis
  • Strong understanding in traceability programs and verification
  • Product withdrawal and recall end to end processes experience
  • Experience working with legislation, internal policy & guidelines
  • Proven ability to engage internal and external stakeholders to align on strategic direction
  • Working knowledge of product development
  • Strong planning and time management skills as well as a strong ability to influence
  • Bachelor degree in Food Science or a related field i.e. Science, Microbiology or Chemistry
  • Lead Food Safety / Quality auditing qualification preferred
