Are you passionate about agricultural education and ready to lead a dynamic department? Our prestigious institution is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Department for Agriculture to join our team and make a significant impact on our students' learning journey.

Our School was founded in 1881 and is an independent co-educational day and boarding school private school, with a total enrolment of over 1,400 students from Prep to Year 12, as well as the Early Learning Years. The School is the largest independent boarding school in Queensland and the second largest co-educational boarding school in Australia. It is a leading school in region and has achieved great success in the academic, cultural, sporting and vocational fields.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced teacher and educational leader to:

  • Make a difference leading Agriculture education across the College
  • Lead and develop a talented teaching team
  • Manage departmental operations including the writing and evaluation of Science curriculum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement curriculum programs aligned with the School's Learning Framework.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
  • Establish and review students' learning goals and adapt curriculum programs accordingly.
  • Engage in continuous reflection on teaching practices and actively participate in the School's Personal Learning Programme.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate student activities and share teaching insights.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Contribute to the School and wider community through active involvement in co-curricular activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines with precision.

Required:

  • Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
  • Completion of Safeguarding Children Checks.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in classroom behaviour management techniques.
  • Ability to positively influence others and react effectively in challenging situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships easily.
