The Victorian Government Cyber Incident Response Service (CIRS) is seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic Cyber Incident Analyst to join our team.

CIRS sits within the Department of Government Services. It provides organisations with access to expert cyber incident response and coordination services. This includes technical, forensics and communications specialists. These experts assist with reducing the scope, impact and severity of cyber incidents as they impact the Victorian Government.

The Cyber Incident Analyst role sits within the Cyber Defence Centre (CDC) and is a key member of the CIRS team.

The position is responsible for the collection and analysis of digital artifacts and helps to develop advice for stakeholders on effective risk mitigation and incident response strategies to minimise harm to the Victorian Government.

The Cyber Incident Analyst supports the investigation and remediation of significant cyber security incidents affecting the Victorian Government.

The position supports the provision of sound advice and guidance on the containment, eradication, investigation and remediation of cyber security incidents.

The position requires strong initiative, professional drive and integrity - including the ability to manage competing deadlines during periods of heightened operational tempo.

The position participates in an on-call roster and requires the ability to perform intermittent after-hours work.
About you

  • Demonstrated experience participating in technical investigations into to cyber security incidents, including containment, eradication, investigation and remediation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts into 'plain English' to assist a variety of stakeholders and decisionmaking requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of government and private industry.
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of ICT networks and cyber threats.
Mandatory requirement

  • Ability to successfully acquire and maintain a NEGATIVE VETTING 2 level security clearance in Australia (requires Australian citizenship).
