An exciting opportunity exists for enthusiastic
Ward Clerks to join the ever growing Ward Clerk Workforce based at Northern Hospital in Epping.

We currently have up to 176 hours available (including 48 hours fixed term until 2 July 2023 and 40 hours fixed term until 30 September These shifts could vary across Monday to Sunday from 7.30am to 9.30pm.

Some of the shifts involve weekends and you could be working every second weekend as our preference is not to roster every weekend.

These positions are located on our General Wards, General Operating Theatre and Hospital in the Home (HITH). We operate on a fixed fortnightly roster.


As a
Ward Clerk, you are responsible for providing administrative support and assistance to patients and their families upon their arrival at the hospital.

You will also assist clinical teams by coordinating the necessary clerical requirements for patients' admission to discharge.

Responsibilities of this job include:

  • Patient movement scheduling processes to ensure appropriate bed management and utilisation
  • Managing incoming and outgoing calls at the front reception desk
  • Verifying patient registration information upon admission
  • Provide timely and accurate information to queries by patients, visitors, and other staff and departments
  • Work alongside and support clinical staff, patients, and visitors to ensure a smooth hospital experience for patients
  • Compilation and management of patient clinical documentation

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An enthusiastic personality with a strong administrative skillset and a passion for customer service who enjoys being part of a busy environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask and be highly organised
  • Good work ethic and initiative
  • The ability to converse and be empathetic while managing a busy flow of admissions and discharges
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working in a team of clinical and nonclinical staff
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Experience in a medical setting will be highly desired, though not essential
  • Experience with Patient Administration Systems
  • Willing to learn and grow within the hospital
