Our client in Canberra is a Project Scheduler who will work within the Tranche Planning area of the Warfighting Networks and Applications Support Organization (WSO), ICT Delivery Division, Chief Information Officer Group.

The project scheduler should be comfortable rolling up task-based workflows and Scaled Agile frameworks to support centralized, high-level project management toolsets, introducing automation where applicable to minimize data re-entry and reducing total manual effort for regular reporting.


To ensure success at WNA, the project scheduler should possess solid ICT industry knowledge with minimum three years demonstrable experience in project scheduling.

Defence experience is highly desirable.

A high performing project scheduler will be someone whose expertise leads to the successful realization of envisaged project goals with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

The Master Project Scheduler will be required to perform and/or have responsibility for duties including, but not limited to:

  • Consulting with project managers and technical experts/SMEs to set up work packages, work breakdown structures, tasks, subtasks, dependencies, project milestones etc.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective scheduling management system in both MS Project and JIRA.
  • Coordinating project timelines with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitoring project timelines and deadlines.
  • Identifying potential project schedule delays, reporting, escalating, and facilitating intervention in a timeframe expected within the project thresholds and tolerances.
  • Evaluating performance and preparing project progress reports on a weekly and monthly cadence.
  • Accommodating updates and changes to project schedule.
  • Keeping all stakeholders informed of project milestone timelines and deadlines.
  • Documenting project scheduling processes and maintaining records.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Ensuring that the schedule in project central (CIOG ICTDD reporting tool) is updated on a monthly basis to produce a Project Status Report (PSR) at the end of each month.
  • Bachelor's degree in project management, or in a related field is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of three years' experience as a project scheduler in the ICT industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in project scheduling software, such as MS Project.
  • Proficiency in JIRA.
  • Extensive experience in schedule planning and management.
  • Indepth knowledge of the scope of ICT projects within Defence.
  • Strong ability to evaluate project progress and facilitate interventions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Highly motivated team player and willing to be colocated with the project team in Canberra.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience working within the Defence environment.
  • Available to travel to Canberra/Defence base DSN access required sporadically.

ITAR

Australian Citizens with the ability to obtain at least a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance before commencement of work.
Length of Contract: 06 months contract with possible extension later.
