As an Engagement Coordinator within Communications and Engagement, this role supports the Director, Strategic Stakeholder Engagement and the stakeholder engagement team to deliver an organisational wide Engagement Framework, to embed good stakeholder engagement practices across the organisation.

This role is responsible for providing engagement advice and services to support the organisation's major projects, working with project teams and consultants, to plan and deliver engagement activities that reflect a contemporary, best practice and effective approach.


Role Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Director Strategic Stakeholder Engagement, providing stakeholder engagement advice and services to the Department's major projects as well as to other agreed corporate initiatives.
  • Represents the team with internal and external stakeholders when required.
  • Coordinate, design, deliver and evaluate best practice engagement to assist in the planning and delivery of major projects.
  • Prepares engagement strategies and plans for the Department's community and stakeholder projects that reflect a contemporary, best practice and effective approach.
  • Assists with delivery of community and stakeholder consultation and engagement services for projects across the Department including attending engagement events, evaluating activities, data collection and reporting on outcomes.
  • Assists project teams to analyse and assess risks associated with community and stakeholder engagement on a project or issue and provide advice on appropriate strategies and approaches to mitigate risks.
  • Supports the planning, design, implementation, review and evaluation of stakeholder tools and processes as defined in the Department's Engagement Framework.
  • Prioritises and coordinates the delivery of stakeholder engagement activities in line with strategic priorities and project objectives.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholders, team members, other teams, colleagues & clients.

Work Related Requirements
***- Good knowledge of contemporary and industry best practice engagement methodologies and standards for community and stakeholder engagement.

  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of best practice stakeholder engagement for complex matters, and with diverse groups of people. Preference will be given to experience in engagement on planning and development related matters.
  • Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of effective, innovative and integrated stakeholder engagement programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and an understanding of the Department and its priorities and those of its stakeholders.
  • Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to advocate effectively and build collaborative working relationships, in a team environment.
  • Highly developed writing and editing skills across a diverse range of traditional and digital communications materials.
  • Highly developed project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, prioritise deliverables and achieve outcomes and results.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engagement / communications or other related discipline, or the equivalent relevant career experience will be considered highly valuable. IAP2 accreditation will be highly regarded.
