Then you could be the perfect Medical Officer within the Health Information and Records Service (HIRS) to join the professionals at Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network.


Are we right for you?


As a Medical Officer, HIRS with Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the Medico Legal Manager to facilitate the timely release of clinical information to legal agencies, health providers and eligible applicants whilst ensuring compliance with the Health Records Information and Privacy Act 2002 and the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and all Ministry of Health Circulars and Policies.

The role is responsible for staff management, including recruitment activities; orientation and training; rostering and payroll; and performance management. This position also participates in the invoicing of clients and contributing to the collection of statistics.

Ideally, the recommended hours for this position are 3pm - 9pm but this is up for negotiation.

  • Health Records and Privacy Act 2002, Privacy Manual for Health Information and the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and NSW Health guidelines, policies and circulars pertaining to the release of clinical information in a health setting
  • Experience in processing medicolegal requests for clinical information for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to demonstrated ability to liaise with stakeholders from all levels of departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of work and to meet deadlines and the ability to prioritise your workload efficiently
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computerised information systems, including a PAS
  • Ability to work as part of a team and function as a good team player, while working autonomously when needed
  • Experience in always assessing work processes for improvements
