Beechworth Correctional Centre is part of Corrections Victoria.
It is a minimum security prison for men, located in Northeast Victoria, within the Hume Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS).
Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs, and services to ensure that safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Corrections Victoria manages Community Correctional Services locations across the state and is responsible for managing Victoria's public prisons and overseeing the contracts relating to the management of the privately operated prisons.
In doing so, Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders to promote positive behaviour change and prepare offenders for release back into the community.
About the Role:
Grounds and Garden Officers are responsible for the engagement and supervision of prisoners employed in Grounds and Garden team.
Some of your duties will include:
Being responsible for the efficient and effective maintenance of the prison grounds and gardens Ensuring equipment is maintained in good working order, maintaineing general cleanliness of the work site, and ensuring that proper directions are given to prisoners concerning safety Overseeing the allocation and control of tools to prisoners ensuring that all are accounted for.
You will also report any loss of tools promptly to the Senior Environmental Programs Officer.To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.
About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Relevant experience in Garden and Ground Keeping or landscaping The ability to cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals while sharing information and acknowledge others' efforts.
Must be able to step in to help others where required The ability to respond to clients' needs while keeping the client or stakeholder up to date with issues and developments.
Must be able to promptly follow through on inquiries, requests and complaints while takes responsibility for correcting problems.Qualifications/Requirements Successful completion of the Prison Officer pre-training course or willingness to complete this training at the next available course.
A relevant experience or trade qualification is highly regarded or currently undertaking relevant trade related course.How to Apply:
