Join our Corporate/M&A team, a dedicated practice handling cross-border and domestic M&A, private equity, venture capital, joint ventures, W&I insurance, governance, franchising, general commercial and corporate advisory matters, as well as involvement in energy and natural resources projects. This thrilling opportunity for a Senior Associate entails collaborating with experienced corporate partners in Brisbane, working on a diverse range of complex issues for prestigious clients.

Recent projects undertaken by the team include:

  • Assisting Stanmore Resources in various M&A transactions like acquiring the BHP Mitsui coal business and divesting mining assets to Peabody.
  • Supporting Tokyo Gas in divesting minority interests in Australian LNG projects.
  • Representing Petstock Group in selling a % interest to Woolworths.
  • Facilitating a joint venture between GreenFort Capital and Gaw Capital for developing land lease communities.
  • Handling acquisitions for Sandvik including Deswik and Polymathian Industrial Mathematics.
  • Supporting Shell QGC in selling an interest in mid-stream LNG assets and addressing native title and cultural heritage matters.
  • Assisting Arrow Energy in various contracting and land access matters.

Responsibilities

  • Providing counsel to clients from diverse sectors such as consumer markets, technology, financial services, tourism and leisure, mining, oil and gas, renewables, and power.
  • Advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital raisings, W&I insurance, native title, international expansion, franchising, and commercial law.
  • Conducting due diligence and preparing/negotiating documents for intricate commercial transactions.
  • Active involvement in business development and marketing activities.

Requirements

  • + years' PQE in corporate and commercial law from an international or top-tier law firm.
  • Possess a keen interest in handling high-profile, complex transactions.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Key attributes include exceptional client relationship management and strong commercial acumen.
