The purpose of this position is to assist in the delivery of the Sheep & Poultry Competitions & Events exhibits for the 2024 Royal Easter Show.


The
Sydney Royal Easter Show is the largest annual ticketed event staged in the Southern Hemisphere and we are currently looking for an
Assistant, Sydney Royal Sheep & Poultry Competitions & Events to join our Small Livestock Competitions team for the 2024 Show.

You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of duties including, but not limited to:

  • Support the daily operations of Sheep & Fleece and Poultry & Pigeon Competitions at the Sydney Royal Easter Show
  • Assist in setting up animal exhibits, following health regulations as instructed
  • Have a good grasp of Sheep & Fleece and Poultry & Pigeon Sections rules and regulations
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including Committee Members, Exhibitors, Officials, and Sponsors
  • Perform data entry tasks, as well as assist in processing and proofreading result transactions and printing result documentation
  • Sort ribbons and judging cards on a daily basis and organise and distribute trophies
  • Assist in the smooth running of Sheep & Fleece and Poultry & Pigeon Sections during the Show, supporting Pavilion Superintendents and Committees
  • General administrative duties, such as filing and housekeeping, as required.
  • Other duties as may reasonably be given


This role is a contract role to April 2024, and will require you to work the 2024 Sydney Royal Easter Show period
(22 March to 2 April 2024).


Office hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm; however, the nature of this role requires some weekend, evening and public holiday work.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Sheep and Poultry industries will be highly regarded

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience in administration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving, planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to liaise with all levels of stakeholders
  • Customer service experience

Computer Skills

  • An intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Database experience

Person Specifications

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong initiative, motivation and adaptability
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Good interpersonal skills and a strong team player
  • Willingness to follow directions and coordinate various tasks and skills simultaneously
