As the Communications and Community Relations Advisor, your key focus will be to deliver clear and effective communications across Metros Infrastructure disruptions to help minimise and mitigate any works impacts on rail passengers and local communities.

Join on 24 month Max-Term position based between both Docklands and North Melbourne offices

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and deliver communications materials for Metro staff, passengers, residents and businesses to minimise disruption from planned works
  • Ensure consistency in the preparation and dissemination of appropriate notifications in accordance with related communications plans
  • Participate in a range of meetings, including the 12week lookahead, occupation readiness, crossagency working groups, risk management and stakeholder and communications team meetings.
  • Lead and support the bundling of passenger information for planned disruptions across multiple projects, to drive clear, consistent and timely information for our passengers
  • Build awareness on infrastructure works' with internal and external stakeholders, including developing proactive social media and employee communications opportunities.
  • Provide the background and response for community and residential issues, as they relate to works both planned and unplanned.
  • Work with Metro's Passenger Relations, Government Relations, and Franchise Community Teams to plan, agree and execute appropriate responses to community issues.
Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, public relations, communications, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Ability to interpret complex technical information and communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and work to deadlines
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies and plans
  • Proven ability to deliver a range of communications materials for different audiences
  • Demonstrated understanding of communications channels including digital and social media
  • Strong negotiation, relationshipbuilding and issues resolution skills
  • Experience in transport, government, utilities, construction, or related disciplines is desirable
  • Ability to work autonomously and within teams, both remotely and face to face
