We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Network Authorisation Specialist at our Power Training Services Facility in Jandakot, on a Full-Time permanent basis.


About this role


As the Network Authorisation Specialist you will be is responsible for ensuring the highest level of compliance with technical and electrical requirements of all the field work authorised switching operators across the Network Total Workforce throughout the full range of activities undertaken thereby reducing the risk of harm, injury and litigation.


  • Contribute towards elimination of noncompliant work practices in the Network Total Workforce.
  • Develop, manage and maintain beneficial relationships with Network Total Workforce operational personnel to ensure that key deliverables are met.
  • Provide technical support on switching guidelines and standards, and ensure these are adopted through assessment, coaching and mentoring of peers and line managers.
  • Support the development and implementation of operational switching practices which are essential to the success of Western Power by proactively engaging with the Network Total Workforce operational personnel.
  • Complete and/or contribute towards completion of allotted projects according to agreed time and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate commitment to ongoing development of skills and knowledge relative to the position.
  • Coach and mentor operational field staff and line managers as required helping them maintain an acceptable level of technical skills and compliance.
  • Perform competencybased assessments with the Network Total Workforce to align and maintain skills and knowledge with the Australian Qualification Framework and industry specific standards.

About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • A current Electrical Workers Licence, or a trade qualification in Electrical or Lines or Cable Jointing and / or A minimum of one switching level authorisation and/ or hold a current valid live work authorisation
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment
  • Relevant industry experience in overhead and/or underground Electrical Power Distribution systems or transmission systems, substations and/or lines.
  • A minimum of one switching level authorisation
  • Be a highly disciplined, selfstarting member of a dynamic team.
  • Willingness to travel away from primary work location, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Ability to plan and work to priorities and work independently to meet identified deliverables and outcomes within established timelines.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, that enables effective interaction with key stakeholders, peers and the general community.
  • Valid WA Driver's License Class 'C' or 'C-A'
