About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Biochemistry Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of biochemistry test results through expert knowledge of quality assurance systems.
  • Validating and verifying laboratory methods and procedures to ensure compliance with NATA/TGA/NPACC regulations.
  • Working with multiple instrument platforms and manual techniques to achieve high-quality results.
  • Providing sound analytical support for laboratory-based tasks, including method validation, verification, and clinical result validation and interpretation.
  • Ensuring the implementation of routine internal quality control and external quality assurance procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining a solid grounding in pathology-based IT and quality systems.
  • Providing exceptional communication and problem-solving skills to support the team.
  • Demonstrating a high level of personal motivation and application of expertise to achieve challenging goals.
About You

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise, and skills within the respective discipline.
  • Solid knowledge of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience validating and reporting patient results.
  • Experience liaising with Pathologists and other relevant Health Professionals.
  • Experience with Biochemistry Instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
  • Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent supervision.
  • Outstanding commitment to quality and excellence.
  • Willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member.
  • Strong time management, interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department-specific vaccine preventative diseases.
