About the opportunity
We are seeking a creative and passionate Communications Advisor to join our highly engaged and experienced team.

Based at our modern Richmond head office, this incredibly versatile and visible role will support Fonterra's Australian Communications and Farm Source teams in delivering internal and external communications.

The role will be split approximately 50/50 between the Corporate Communications and Farm Source functions and will see you report to the Head of Australia Communications, with a dotted line to the Farm Source Marketing & Communications Manager.

This position is a pivotal role within the Communications function in Australia, helping to shape and govern how Fonterra shows up with key stakeholders, and requires a capable communicator who demonstrates a passion for and excellence in storytelling, writing, and creating engaging content.

In supporting the Corporate Communications team, this role will see you:

  • Co-manage the Australian newsroom calendar and ensure a consistent pipeline of creative content that will resonate with key audiences
  • Source and create stories from a range of business partners for our channels, as well as measure and evaluate the content we have on internal and external channels
  • Write, create, and publish internal articles on Fonterra's intranet
  • Maintain relationships with key regional and agriculture media and identify and pitch relevant news stories in dairy regions in Victoria and Tasmania
  • Cocreate social media strategy and develop engaging content for social and digital channels
  • Maintain and update Fonterra Australia's website with dynamic content


Farm Source is Fonterra's farmer-facing team and is crucial in driving the connection with Fonterra's farmer suppliers in Victoria and Tasmania to engage existing and potential milk supply partners.

With a strong emphasis on farmer communications, you will develop, produce and execute a compelling content strategy and pipeline to engage existing and potential milk supply partners.-

As an active team member, you will be a strong team player, willing to contribute to the Marketing, Communications, and wider Fonterra team.


You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations or equivalent
  • 3+ years Communications experience, with exposure to dairy / agriculture / food manufacturing preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in storytelling, writing, proofreading, and editing
  • Proven experience creating engaging content including digital, video scripts and storyboards, marketing collateral, and social media
