- Join our team as a Suicide Prevention Peer Worker in support of the NSW Health initiative, Towards Zero Suicides. In this role, you will collaborate across Acute Service teams to deliver holistic, recoveryoriented, traumainformed, and evidencebased rapid crisis support to individuals grappling with suicidality. Leveraging your lived recovery experience, you'll authentically engage with and provide vital support to instill confidence and hope in others regarding their recovery journey. As an integral member of the team, you will offer holistic nonclinical support to those in need, contributing significantly to the mission of reducing deaths by suicide and suicide attempts in our community.
About You
- Minimum Qualification: Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (consumer or carer), including completion of CHCCCS003: Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide or willingness to complete it within 18 months of commencing, along with a commitment to complete other essential Towards Zero Suicide training modules as soon as practical.
- You have your own personal lived experience of suicidal crisis, mental distress, and recovery, and the ability to meaningfully and purposefully use lived experience to provide peer support to consumers.
- You can work effectively across community, inpatient, emergency department, and related settings including demonstrated effective negotiation and communication skills.
- You possess a current Unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence (P2 licence acceptable)
Where You'll Be Working
- As part of the NSW Health initiative, Towards Zero Suicides, the Suicide Prevention Peer Worker will operate within Acute Service teams, offering holistic recoveryoriented, traumainformed, and evidencebased rapid crisis support to individuals facing suicidality.
The role is based across both Gosford and Wyong Hospital Safe Haven sites, working Monday to Friday - occasional weekend shifts may be required.
The role is suitable for both Health Education Officers Graduates and Non-Graduates.As the leading healthcare provider in the region, Central Coast Local Health District is well known for its dedication to high-quality patient care and community services.
