The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Peer Recovery Worker (Identified Lived Experience - Alcohol and Other Drugs) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Ensure consumers and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds
- Support consumers to make positive changes towards recovery by identifying strengths and goals and planning to achieve these
- Establish and maintain relationships with consumers, carers, the community, health professionals and all service providers
- Actively identify areas of improvement to the service and the services environment

About you

**To be successful in this position you will require**:

- Experience as a consumer with lived experience of recovery from problematic substance use and service use is mandatory
- Experience working within a public Alcohol and Other Drugs service or the Non-Government Sector would be highly desirable
- It is highly desirable that applicants hold a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent or can demonstrate that they are working towards obtaining these qualifications
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary
- Permanent part time (38 hrs p.f)
- Base salary ranging from $37.68 - 41.90 per hour

The Alcohol and Other Drug Service Peer Worker provides a responsive program of recovery-oriented peer support, education, and information for consumers, families and carers. The team's goal is to increase consumer, family and carer participation in the planning, delivery and evaluation of mental health and Alcohol and Other Drug services. Based in Southport.
