Grade 3 Senior Clinician Social Work

Full Time Ongoing Role.

An exciting opportunity to fulfil an ongoing Grade 3 Senior Clinician Social Work role, 80 hours per fortnight with ADO, reporting to the Manager of Social Work, Music Therapy and Art Therapy is now available.

Specific requirements of the role include:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality clincial care and secondary advice to staff,
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality supervision to students and staff,
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to problem solving and service improvement within the senior leadership team,
  • Role modeling exemplary leadership within the team and support to Manager and Grade 4 Clinical Lead,
  • Demonstrated passion for leading quality improvement projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Substantial postgraduate experience in a hospital or health care setting
  • Experience in project & program development
  • Extensive experience in staff supervision
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the application of social work theory, practice frameworks and principles, in the context of the current health care environment
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills. These should incorporate qualities of excellent communication (verbal and written) and skills in collaboration, negotiation and conflict management
  • Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, at an advanced level
  • Highly-developed individual, family work and crisis intervention and care planning skills
  • The ability to identify, plan and implement and evaluate new service strategies
  • Demonstrated commitment to staff and student supervision
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to professional development
  • Knowledge of, and ability to participate in quality improvement activities and develop strategies to market the work of the profession in the organisation, and beyond
  • Evidence of initiation and coordination of quality/research projects
  • Established computer literacy skills
  • Current Working With Children Check

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in working with oncology patients and their families
  • Post graduate diploma or degree highly desirable

1. Provide and develop high quality clinical services to patients and families within the clinical service allocation.

  • Patient & family satisfaction with services provided.
  • Patients attended to within departmental and professional guidelines.
  • Discharge planning and documentation in accordance with professional and departmental guidelines.
  • Data collection in line with departmental guidelines.

2. Co-ordinate allocated projects programs and portfolio responsibilities.

  • Establish, implement, evaluate and report on all projects in a timely manner
  • Mentors Grade 2 portfolio lead, meets identified goals, guides evaluation and reporting on portfolio area
  • Develops & leads research activities as directed by HOD
  • Provides general leadership and support to HOD

3. Provide professional supervision to social workers and social work students.

  • Supervision to be provided as per professional standards and departmental policy and guidelines.
  • Professional standards met by supervisees.

4. Provide professional representation.

  • Representation of department, profession and as a senior member of Allied Health on both internal and external committees as required.

5. Initiate and implement relevant policies and Quality Improvement Activities.

  • Quality Improvement Project Reports & Evaluations in line with hospital and accreditation requirements
  • Contribute to the development, update and implementation of policies, procedures and protocols at both departmental level and organization wide level as required
