It's an exciting time for tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance.

We are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of making it more accessible, to more people, more often.

To help us achieve our plan we are looking for a Tennis Development Officer to join our team at Tennis NSW and contribute to the growth of tennis on a full-time, permanent basis.


In this role, you will drive growth in tennis participation by supporting stakeholders in the outstanding delivery of playing opportunities in their region.

You will adhere to the national and state-aligned regional tennis plans and play an integral role in building sustainable pathways for club-based tennis.

  • Establish positive and working relationships with clubs, coaches and relevant local bodies within the region to support, empower and drive appropriate change
  • Develop and execute Venue Action Plans to support the growth of operationally sustainable tennis venues and facility upgrades and developments
  • Educate clubs and councils on the importance of digital accessibility and local area marketing and its impact on attracting people to clubs and participating in tennis generally
  • In collaboration with the Southern NSW Regional Tennis Manager, develop strong working relationships with respective Local Government Authorities to ensure maximisation of all potential funding, facility improvements and programme support opportunities for clubs & venues
  • Support the Southern NSW Regional Tennis Manager on regionally significant project delivery and administrative responsibilities (i.e. Regional Todd Woodbridge Cup scheduling, logistics and Tennis Development Officer support, etc.)
About you

  • What you will bring to the role:_
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to evoke the cooperation of stakeholders across a wide range of organisations including volunteers, coaches and associations
  • Proven ability to influence change and drive behaviour of stakeholders towards a common goal
  • An understanding of sports administrations
  • Experience in and knowledge of the tennis environment and the stakeholders it engages
  • High computer literacy with Microsoft suite and database management and with adopting diverse digital platforms, or a willingness to learn and acquire these skills
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in club based volunteering, coaching/sport or officiating qualification (highly regarded)
  • A current Class C (minimum) driver's licence and current first aid certificate
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
