    Job description:
  • Assist the Solicitor General in the conduct and management of the business of the office by providing high level legal advice.

Hours per fortnight:

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

Duties:

  • Advise Crown Agencies and Instrumentalities in relation to a wide range of routine and complex legal issues which require substantial legal research and high level statutory interpretation.
  • Develop relationships with Crown Agencies and Instrumentalities to facilitate providing ongoing advice and support in relation to routine, complex or sensitive legal matters.
  • Undertake high level legal research and generally assist the Solicitor-General, as required.
  • Prepare and present legal education seminars to a wide range of specialist and professional audiences
  • Provide guidance and instruction to junior legal practitioners.

Essential Requirements:

  • Admitted or eligible for immediate admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

Desirable Requirements:

  • At least 7 years' experience in legal practice relevant to the duties of the position.
