Hume City Council has an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated, innovative and experienced communications professional to support the development and execution of our strategic communications.


As Strategic Campaigns Advisor you'll establish a reputation as a trusted advisor to senior decision-makers, be a champion for the big picture and work closely with stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of their challenges and support critical projects that protect and enhance our reputation with our community.


The position will proactively develop and implement strategic communications campaigns on waste and recycling to change people's behaviours and to help Keep Hume Clean.


A strong writer with a critical eye for detail, you'll thrive in a complex and fast-moving environment, and stay calm under pressure while juggling multiple projects and tight deadlines.


You'll be adept and willing to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, balancing often competing needs with complex policy, process, organisational and political dynamics.


You'll form a strong partnership with the Coordinator, Strategic Campaigns to support the tactical execution of Council's annual strategic communications plan.


About You
As a Strategic Campaigns Advisor your key responsibilities/qualifications and skills determining the key selection criteria comprise of but not limited to:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, marketing or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated highlevel writing, editing, proofing skills with a demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information and write clearly for a wide range of audiences in a variety of styles.
  • A strong understanding of local, state and federal government and experience working in a political environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting communications initiatives and campaigns through media.
