_ What is a Strategic Campaigns Advisor?_


The Strategic Campaigns Advisor provides support in the development of strategic communications campaigns and projects to raise awareness of Council's services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.


The advisor will provide strategic advice and support across the organisation to ensure that Council's communications are appropriate, branded, relevant and targeted, and achieve the strategic objectives of Hume City Council.

In addition, safeguard and enhance Council's reputation by identifying issues, risks and opportunities.

_ You will thrive within this multi-faceted role as you _

  • Support the development of highlevel strategic communications advice for senior decisionmakers on key issues, policy matters and implementation priorities to support Council objectives.
  • Develop highlevel narratives, ensuring strong and consistent key messaging across all strategic communications activities.
  • Foster new ideas and creative ways of working to ensure Council's communications are relevant, targeted and have meaningful impact.
  • Provide specialist writing and editing for a range of communications materials and channels that are tailored for various external and internal audiences and stakeholders.
  • Participate in local, regional and state networks/organisations to keep up to date with current communications trends, practices and requirements.

You will also be a clear communicator, have a passion for providing advice and support and building relationships through trust and respect.

You need to be approachable, self-motivated, patient, highly organised and enjoy achieving results.


You will champion the big picture, thrive in a complex and fast-moving environment, while juggling multiple projects and tight deadlines.


  • Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, marketing, emergency management communications or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of integrated communication strategies.
  • A strong understanding of local, state and federal government and experience working in a political environment.
