We are seeking a capable and motivated Procurement officer to support the team at Parklea Correctional Centre.

About the role

The Procurement Officer provides procurement expertise and assists in planning, developing, sourcing and managing procurement arrangements to maintain the smooth operations of PCC.


With solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, systems and policy, the Procurement Officer is able to analyse numerical and other complex information in a manner which supports effective decision-making.

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders is critical for this role.

The Procurement Officer is detail-oriented, thorough, organised and adept at working under strict timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with PCC functional teams and Corrective Service Industries (CSI) to determine procurement needs and changes in demand
  • Conduct sourcing activities in accordance with established policies and procedures to meet PCC needs
  • Check and verify including via liaison with the senior management team and other staff that subcontractor products and services conform to the requirements of purchasing documentation prior to release for use or approval of goods receipt, including accompaniment by any applicable manufacturer data report and other quality or safety information
  • Participate in negotiations to establish and review supply arrangements that deliver value for money
  • Estimate and establish cost parameters and budgets for purchases
  • Coordinate with CSI to ensure sufficient food product stock in the event of a serious incident or emergency where the State is impacted, or where CSI is unable to meet its obligations
  • In interfacing with CSI, comply with order times and maximum meal numbers

Mandatory requirements:

- ability to gain and retain all the police/security clearances required within our industry
- ability to pass any required health assessments
- ability to visit and work within a correctional
- proven right to work in Australia
