Our aim is to improve relationships and reduce stressors for inmates/transferees, so they feel cared for.

We are seeking a capable and motivated Accounts Payable Officer to support the team at Parklea Correctional Centre.

**Some of the Accounts Payable Officer responsibilities are provided as a general guide in relation to the requirements and objectives of this position, including but not limited to**:

- Accurately enter data and manage all financial transactions related to accounts payable
- Verify, process, and pay invoices, bills, and other financial obligations in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulations, including those specific to Parklea CC
- Perform daily reconciliations and ensure the precise entry and validation of vendor records
- Timely process vendor payments with appropriate authorisations
- Communicate with vendors regarding financial enquiries
- Maintain records in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards
- Conduct reconciliations of vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies and issues promptly
- Collaborate with procurement and other departments to validate and authorise payments
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers to address inquiries and resolve financial matters
- Participate in audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements
- Continuously monitor and analyse accounts payable processes for improvements in efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal financial controls
- Analyse accounts, troubleshoot issues, and generate monthly reports for the Commercial & Finance Manager

**Skills & Experience**:
The following key experiences and skills are desirable in relation to this position and would include but not be limited to:

- Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline
- Knowledge of Netsuite system is desirable but not essential
- Previous demonstrated experience in a similar role in a correctional or institutional environment is necessary
- Possess general knowledge of accounting principles
- Ability to communicate with different levels of management
- Attention to detail with high level of accuracy
- Strong time management skills
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Passionate about working within a team environment
- Able to prioritise tasks to ensure completion of outcomes

**Mandatory qualifications and requirements**:

- Must obtain appropriate security clearances from New South Wales Police and Correctional Services New South Wales
- Must meet the physical requirements of the role and pass a functional fitness and health assessment; due to the demands of the role, applicants who consume alcohol excessively, abuse prescription drugs or consume illicit substances are unsuitable

- Ability to gain and retain all the police/security clearances required within our industry

- Ability to visit and work within a correctional or regional processing centre
- Proven rights to work in Australia
- Willingness to undergo alcohol and drug testing as required of the business
