About the Role

To be successful in this role you will ideally possess strong people skills and the capacity to relate to staff, students and parents. The successful applicant should also be highly collaborative and willing to take on a small group of students for intervention programs.

We seek enthusiastic team members who show initiative in adapting tasks to meet student needs and support students engage in learning. You will contribute advice and expertise; collaborating with staff to support and monitor student progress.

Positive and passionate applicants who are willing to work closely with the classroom teacher to help create and maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment along with experience in a mainstream setting or the capacity to learn and take directions..

Wyndham DHS caters for students from K to 12. Secondary students have the opportunity to participate in programs designed to develop leadership, social-emotional development and work skills such as the Bushranger Cadets and the Horsemanship Program, both supported by local Aboriginal Corporations, Ngnowar Aerwah Aboriginal Corporation and Balanggarra.

Year 10, 11 and 12 students have the opportunity to participate in VET subjects such as Hospitality. The students all have the opportunity to follow a WACE pathway through face to face teaching with subjects such as Outdoor Education and Visual Arts as well as participating in subjects through SIDE. Students who participate in SIDE have their own learning space with timetabled one on one support time with teachers.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

Sound oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents and teaching professionals. Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team. Sound organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective educational programs to students. Ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
