What you will be doing:


A fabulous opportunity is available to join the team of Wardspersons at Nepean hospital, working either full time or part time in a permanent role.


This position is primarily responsible for transporting patients and items throughout the hospital and providing assistance to patients within the clinical setting.

Services must be performed in a courteous and efficient manner with particular attention to customer service.

Your duties will include:

  • Transfering patients safely throughout the organisation including infectious risk patients and patients who arrive by helicopter
  • Transporting patient related items, equipment &medical files
  • Transport deceased persons from Wards _I _Areas to the Mortuary
  • Transporting specimens, including infectious risk specimens as required
  • Moving furniture as required (wheel based items)
  • Assisting nursing staff in lifting and positioning patients
  • Assisting nursing staff in pacifying and controlling refractory patients
  • Maintaining and cleaning all equipment used for transfer of patients
  • Connecting fittings to gas cylinders when delivered to wards/units
  • Assisting the patient flow team in ensuring the timely and efficient transfer and movement of patients throughout the hospital
  • Other related duties as directed

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer service
  • Ability to work Mornings, Evenings & Night duty shifts, across a 7 day week roster
  • Able to demonstrate problem solving an prioritisation skills in a work environment
  • Be able to meet the physical demands of the position as listed in the physical requirements in the position description
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Able to demonstrate a reasonable understanding of work health and safety
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
