About the role


In this role, you will play a pivotal role in building, protecting and enhancing Ampol's corporate reputation in the market, with a focus on media relations and external stakeholders.


The role will be accountable for developing and implementing Ampol's media relations strategy; proactive and reactive communications, issues management, speeches and presentations for key external events.

It will also be responsible for supporting the development of Ampol's annual reporting suite.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to issues and provide strategic advice to leaders on risks and opportunities
  • Develop, implement and manage endtoend PR strategies to build, protect and enhance Ampol's reputation
  • Oversee our media training program, upskilling our senior leaders
  • Lead media relations activity related to key investor events and announcements
  • Lead and develop content for external channels and events, including speeches, presentations, social media posts and media responses

About you
You will be someone who is able to react quickly to changing priorities and challenges.

In addition, you will be able to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.


Key skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in public relations, communications or a similar role
  • Experience working for an ASX listed organisation, with strong understanding of finance media and landscape
  • Demonstrated experience managing media at a regional and national level (including major metro dailies, online, TV and radio) on complex and sensitive issues
  • An ability to prepare communications material for a wide range of audiences and purposes
  • Issues and crisis management experience in a similarly highprofile environment
  • Demonstrate a strong network and relationships with key Australian media
  • Experience in the development and implementation of communication strategies
  • A passion for growth and development (one direct report)
