An incredible opportunity awaits at ASC to become part of our exceptional Employment Services team. As the Employment Services Coordinator, you will assist individuals seeking asylum in reaching their employment goals. This role involves overseeing work readiness and offering pre and post-placement support. Additionally, you will supervise volunteers, guide them in assisting clients with job searches, and collaborate with partners.

This is a full-time role based in Newtown on a fixed 12-month contract.

Responsibilities
  • Case manage clients to develop Job Search Plans and achieve employment goals with a person-centered, strengths-based approach
  • Supervise the volunteer-run Employment Hub weekly to ensure excellent client experience
  • Provide feedback to enhance job search for clients and volunteers
  • Identify job opportunities for clients, including those on the ASC Jobs Board, and plan next steps
  • Market and place candidates with various employers and recruitment agencies
  • Guide volunteers in supporting job applications with partners
  • Assist volunteers in delivering post-placement support
  • Track applications and recruitment processes, maintaining strong partner relationships
  • Engage with Partner Employers to expand the network and create opportunities
  • Manage relationships with Partner Employers, recruiters, and community organizations to support individuals effectively
  • Ensure Partner Employers adhere to employment standards

The Employment Services Coordinator role supports individuals seeking asylum in their employment endeavors, overseeing work readiness and providing post-placement assistance. This role involves collaborating with volunteers to help clients in their job searches and engaging with partners.

Full-time position in Newtown on a 12-month fixed term contract.

Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

Essential
  • Experience in recruitment, HR, or community development
  • Ability to motivate and inspire volunteers and individuals seeking asylum
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by individuals seeking asylum
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to think creatively to solve problems as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and commitment to learning and development
  • Experience in engaging with external stakeholders
  • Enthusiasm for running engaging training sessions
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Adaptability to change effectively
Desirable
  • Knowledge of various industries, including education
  • Familiarity with Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Experience with asylum seekers, refugees, or migrant communities
  • Relevant qualifications in business, HR, psychology, social work, or humanitarian areas
  • Lived experience as a refugee or person seeking asylum
