We are looking for an experienced Library and Museum Assistant to join our clients team. The successful candidate will work in a beautiful building surrounded by passionate and interesting people. This role is crucial in delivering exceptional library and museum services to the community.

You will spend your days assisting with the planning, support, and delivery of efficient and effective library and museum services to the community. Responsibilities include assisting in the planning, development, and delivery of museum services to ensure they meet user needs. The role also involves aiding in the growth and maintenance of museum collections by accurately editing asset records for publication.

Administrative duties form a significant part of this role, including conducting basic research, typing correspondence, compiling reports, and maintaining statistics. The assistant will monitor data integrity and report discrepancies, help with the accessioning, storage, and display of museum artefacts, and support the maintenance of the local history archive. Additionally, the role includes contributing to the Museum's Oral History project by conducting interviews to capture the City's lived experience.

Frontline customer service is a key component of this role, ensuring a high standard of service, maintaining the presentation of library materials, and promptly attending to public enquiries. The assistant will also support the training of new staff, volunteers, and work experience students, attend relevant meetings and training sessions.

You have strong research and written communication skills, proven organisational and administrative skills, good data entry and numeracy skills, and the ability to exercise initiative and good judgement are essential. The candidate should be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team and have a good understanding of Work, Health, and Safety requirements.
