About the Assignment

As Community Support Officer within the Property Coordination Team, you will use your experience in social work and community housing support to manage property owners and/or tenants impacted by the South Coast Region's infrastructure delivery program.

The South Coast Region's office is centrally located in Nerang, however frequent travel to various locations within the South Coast Region is required.


Accountabilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategies to minimise the social and community welfare impacts of infrastructure projects on directly impacted property owners and/or tenants with a view to achieving positive and innovative outcomes.
  • Researching and obtaining information on appropriate public assistance resources for clients
  • Guiding and assisting clients with the process of relocation to alternative accommodation including communicating with client's care teams if appropriate
  • Engaging with relevant nonprofit organisations and/or Government public assistance agencies with a view to providing suitable and innovative alternatives for clients.
  • Identify clients who may require crisis intervention and connect them to any available government, nongovernment and charitable organisation support networks
  • Preparing reports and proving technical input to briefing notes, correspondence, and other communications.
  • Recording client interactions into relevant databases, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policy and procedures.

About You

  • Qualification in Community Services, Mental Health, Social Work, Social Housing or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in the community sector and/or accommodation services
  • Required to undergo employment screening (for example a criminal history check) as part of our selection process
  • Current holder of a Class C driver's licence with own vehicle, noting that travel costs will not form part of the contract and travel for client meetings will be via a fleet vehicle
  • Experience in Government including but not limited to an understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures. (desirable)
