Digital Marketing and Communications Officer

Temporary (12 months) Full Time

Band 5 $72,854 + super + monthly Rostered Day Off
Are you a digital marketer looking to make a positive difference in a varied and exciting role? Do you have experience in content production and a love for writing?

We're looking for someone with a passion for engaging internal and external audiences through new and creative ways.

If you have a flair for creative thinking and innovative content development, especially using photography and videography, with strong professional writing experience across varied digital platforms we're looking for you to join our high performing team.


A week at Yarra could include creating digital content for sustainability projects, capturing diverse community stories and finding interesting and creative ways to connect our internal teams.

You'll be working alongside a diverse team of communications, web, and marketing experts.

The successful applicant will be working closely with our internal communications and social media teams to provide communications, content and event support and advice to key stakeholders to drive staff and community engagement with a variety of programs and services.


Key programs and projects you'd be involved with include:

  • Developing digital content (visual and written) for our internal and external channels
  • Intranet upgrade and promotion, including content writing and training to support best practise content development
  • Increasing staff engagement via staff newsletter, intranet and events
  • External awareness and education campaigns via social media, eDM and web

The person:

  • Passionate about engaging audiences through compelling digital marketing and communications content in particular web based, photo and video.
  • Experienced writer and storyteller with an ability to distil complex information into effective content for a variety of audiences across a range of internal and external channels.
  • A creative thinker with the ability to bring a campaign to life through storytelling, integrated with topical research, reports or findings to increase audience engagement.
  • Thinks big picture and can contribute content to campaigns and events which are dynamic, thought provoking and memorable.
  • A natural collaborator and team player, you take initiative and are adept at fostering meaningful and productive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.

To be successful, you will require:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role within a complex, high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, creation, and implementation of a wide variety of communications and marketing content (including web, intranet, social, eDM, news articles, photo video, animation, and print).
  • Impeccable writing, spelling and grammar, with a superior eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in photography and video editing programs, ideally Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of UX principles and webbased writing and editing experience (SharePoint experience preferred).
  • Highly developed time and project management skills and ability to plan and coordinate events.
