We are currently recruiting for a Project Buyer. The Project Buyer will work on the Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR) project.

This is a transformational public transport project connecting Melbourne Airport to Victoria's regional and metropolitan train network for the first time.

This role will be based in Melbourne on a Permanent, full time basis.

Purpose of the Role:


In this role, you will be responsible for working with the project team to manage outsourced work packages within Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) targets as well as lead cost improvement and optimisation plans.


In this role you will:

  • Work with engineering and project team to define the scope of work and scheduled need date
  • Preparation and launch of Request For Information / Quotation with suppliers using the standard tool
  • Lead project negotiation and prepare supplier recommendation
  • Monitor Procurement project QCDT and regular progress reporting
  • Create and manage Project tracker to anticipate & monitor spec release, Purchase requisition, delivery dates to identify potential delay. Escalate any delay and drive resolution
  • Ensure work package sheet commitment respect
  • Promoting the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • Support global supplier panel relationship
  • Manage specific supplier panel relationship (negotiation, specific agreement, local supplier QCDT performances)
  • Support change order management
  • Monitor day to day supplier performances and issues. Be interface for Electronic component shortage
  • Management of initial issues before escalation to line manage
  • Active participation to commodity strategy and panel elaboration
  • Provide imputes to build differentiation
  • Support of Commodity Manager in tender phase and change orders
  • Represent the commodities towards projects, platforms and solutions
  • Effective teamwork with internal customers and stakeholders in problem solving

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Advanced Microsoft excel skills
  • A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/ Logistics or similar
