Your new role
On offer are multiple fixed-term contracts that will build your exposure and career in a prominent position within the Public Sector and Legal Industry.
In this role you will be part of a team whose primary function is to provide advice on complex legal issues and develop options, strategies and initiatives in relation to these issues. There are roles available across teams working within the fields of employment law and Commercial Dispute Resolution.
Within this position key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to;
Conduct a professional legal practice and undertake the range of legal work set out in the attached Schedule.
As required, assist in:
the provision of legal training to officers of client Departments;
the provision of legal training to officers of the department.
the provision of advice and guidance on questions of law and practice to more junior officers within the department.
the provision of clear and succinct written communication in a variety of settings and styles; and
the conduct of the more complex matters handled by legal officers within the department. In providing this support it is anticipated that limited supervision will be provided.
Participate in and maintain a proactive approach to Self Development, including:
achievement of CPD points; and
participation in the department's performance management framework and any feedback processes.
Comply at all times with the office standards, including:
the client service charter;
the requirement to meet set targets for billable hours;
quality and timeliness measures; and
Quality Assurance framework.
What will you need to be successful in this role
As this role will be working within the legal industry providing professional advice it is essential to meet the following criteria and qualifications.
A minimum of 4 years PAE in employment law.A degree in law from a recognised tertiary institution or admission as a barrister or solicitor is required to perform this role. Higher studies in law, public administration or related areas would be well regarded.The ability to currently practice law within QueenslandAbility to obtain and pass a criminal history check and/or a National Police CheckAvailability to work full-time hours Monday - Friday.The ideal candidate for this role will be professional, confident and have demonstrated experience in the following areas... Demonstrated experience in leadership role working within the legal industry across legislative and policy projectsDemonstrated experience researching and analysing policy issues. Previous experience within the criminal and civil lawDemonstrated experience preparing submissions, briefs, ministerial and departmental correspondence, answers to Parliamentary Questions on Notice, briefing notes on Cabinet submissions and legal and policy advice for the Attorney-General, senior departmental officers and departmental units within the DepartmentExperience working and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders Why choose Randstad
