What you'll be doing


The School-Link Clinical Lead provides the link between NSW Health and the Department of Education (DoE) to work together to improve the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of children and young people in NSW.

The School-Link Clinical Lead provides specialist mental health services through consultation liaison, clinical care planning for recovery and the delivery of specialist mental health individual and group interventions in schools.

The School-Link Clinical Lead will collaborate with education professionals to improve the early identification of students experiencing mental health problems and facilitate early access for students into mental health services for their appropriate care.

They also play a key role in suicide prevention activities in schools, and assist schools to manage challenging behaviours related to complex mental health issues such as self-harm and suicidal ideation.

Essential Criteria:

Qualification:
Fully registered Psychologist with Master's degree. Social Worker and Occupational Therapist as per award

Registration:

Current Registration:

Fully registered psychologist with Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or some recognised clinical area of psychology.

Social Worker eligibility for membership of the AASW, Psychologist & Occupational Therapist that are fully registered with AHPRA.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated extensive leadership and management skills including superior interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills ability to lead the local implementation of strategic and organisational priorities and deliver multiple outcomes within tight timeframes while maintaining a high standard of service.
  • Demonstrated extensive clinical experience in working with children/youth in mental health setting or educational setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in working with schools
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across professions and services
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of work within deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts of promotion, prevention, early intervention and evidence based practice in mental health
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with children, young people and carers/families with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health.
  • Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia and willing to use for work purposes.
