What you will be doing:

An exciting opportunity is available for a Hospital Assistant to join the Domestic Services team at Nepean Hospital on a casual basis.

In this job, you will provide a safe hygienic environment for patients, staff and their visitors. In addition, our team members perform all tasks comfortably using manual handling techniques.

The role will also be responsible for store stock & chemicals appropriately in locked cupboards. The position is expected to comply with Waste and Recycling Management Procedures Policy.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  • Knowledge and experience of hospital or commercial cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, with all levels of staff, as well as patients and members of the public.
  • Ability to take the initiative and respond to changes in cleaning requirements with demonstrated ability & capacity to work independently and as part of a team with a commitment to customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience in cleaning using machines, microfiber resources and techniques for its use provided by hospital.
  • Knowledge of Infection Control procedures for cleaning.
  • An understanding of Work Place Safety (WH&S), Manual Handling and Equal Opportunity practices in the work place.
