Role Summary

Reporting directly to the HR & Recruitment Manager, this role is responsible for day-to-day HR operational duties in our Melbourne office, as well as involvement in the coordination of national and state-based HR projects.

Key

Responsibilities:

This role includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee the implementation of the firms' policies to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance;
Assist the HR & Recruitment Manager to provide counsel and guidance to leadership staff regarding local human resources laws and regulations and to ensure compliance with those laws and regulations; and


Assist the HR & Recruitment Manager with end-to-end recruitment of lawyer and support staff hires for the Melbourne office, including sourcing, screening, coordinating interview times, attending interviews, completing reference checks, and writing reference reports.

Oversee all functions of Law School, Summer Clerkship and Graduate Recruiting in Melbourne, including but not limited to:
Attend career fairs and on campus events;
Seek out opportunities to promote our profile with students at the leading universities;
Update marketing collateral;
Learning & Development;
WHS;
HR Projects; and

General.

Assist with the completion of regular HR reporting;
Assist with performance management;
Complete regular headcount and turnover reporting;
Assist the Office Administrator and Secretary Coordinator with the coordination of secretary and reception cover arrangements for the Melbourne office;
Assist with the appropriate handling of staff grievances;
Respond to general internal inquiries regarding HR systems, policies, procedures, and benefits; and

Assist with HR projects and initiatives as assigned including representing HR on internal committees and working groups.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

The role will suit someone already in a senior advisory HR position with at least 3-4 years' experience working within an HR team;
Experience gained in a law firm would be ideal, alternatively those with experience within a leading professional services firm (eg. accounting) are strongly encouraged to apply;
Knowledge of HR related functions, practices, and policies;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to build strong relationships internally and with external stakeholders; and

Exceptional service skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
