Our client is a well-established but highly innovative tech company that designs and manufactures its own hardware and software products.

Their tech is used to make a difference to industries ranging from mining to renewable energy and defence.

We do everything from embedded hardware design and data science, to building user interfaces, and manufacture Big Stuff to make it all work in the real world.

They're seeking a new CEO to lead our business to even greater success.

The successful candidate will have the support of a fun and fantastic local team of around 20 engineers, technicians, and support staff, patient but enthusiastic owners, and the incumbent CEO, who is looking to step down.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone with deep tech sector experience, seeking an entrepreneurial or "startup" type leadership role to shape the future of a rapidly growing business, but with the safety of an established and already profitable business.

For now, we're keeping our search somewhat stealthy, but as we get to know each other, we'll be very open about the details of the role and broader organisation.


Role Overview:
As our CEO, you'll be the driving force behind our company's success.
You'll shape our strategic direction, lead cross-functional teams, and manage risks.
Your ability to balance vision with execution will be critical as we scale to new and exciting markets.

Responsibilities:

Visionary Leadership:
Recognise our unique strengths, and plan how we can use these for ongoing growth and impact.

Strategy and Execution:
Develop and execute a robust business strategy, leveraging your industry expertise.

Operational Excellence:
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

Team Building:
Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team.

Stakeholder Management:
Foster strong relationships with partners, and customers.

Financial Stewardship:
Manage budgets, financial planning, and resource allocation.

Selection Criteria:
Essential Energy and enthusiasm to lead, empower, and make a difference to the world.
Proven track record as a senior leader in a fast-moving hardware or tech business.
A history of taking responsibility for a significant profit & loss ledger.
An entrepreneurial approach and a passion to grow an Australian technology business.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
Strategic thinker with a growth mindset.
Desirable Experience leading in both hardware and software development environments.

  • Experience in the industrial, agriculture, or defence sectors.

Demonstrated success as an "ideas person" - of having clever and creative ideas, but also the ability to follow these through to successful practical realisation.

Extensive experience with modern cloud-based collaboration, business management, and record-keeping environments.
