About the role


As the Supervisor (Transfer Station) you will be part of the Environment and Sustainability team and be responsible for the planning and supervision of waste collection, resource recovery activities and staff within the Waste Transfer Station.

Safety and customer service is a focus together with minimising costs in the management and coordination of the Waste Transfer station activities to meet legislative requirements and minimise impacts on the environment and community.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide leadership to the work group by ensuring resource recovery waste services (both domestic and commercial) have adequate resources to meet daily safety and operational objectives
  • Effective management of Resource Recovery employees including leave management, team support and guidance. This includes utilisation of available Council support resources to help performance development
  • Supervision and monitoring of weighbridge staff, including cash management and customer enquiries
  • Customer service engagement, including customer queries, questions and complaints
  • Monitor and review operations to meet key performance indicators, including taking actions within delegated authority to ensure operational objectives are achieved
  • Ensure daily prestart site and equipment inspections occur, including notifications to relevant Council staff when issues arise

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An excellent fit with our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership
  • Statements of Attainment for the competencies, or appropriate National Qualification Certificates, or evidence of proficiency (equivalent knowledge and experience) to operate LE (excavator), LL (frontend loader) and LZ (dozer) class machinery
A pre-employment medical will be required for this role (including drug and alcohol testing).

This is a permanent full-time role at LGE Level 11 with a salary commencing at $76,027 plus superannuation of up to 12.5%.
