The Gerontology Department offers Acute Care of the Elderly, Geriatric Evaluation and Management, and Orthogeriatric Liaison services along with various Specialist Outpatient Clinics. Full-time or part-time permanent position available
About the opportunity:
As a Staff Specialist, your role is to provide high-quality clinical and non-clinical services for the patients and clients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service. You will also be involved in educating and supervising medical students, interns, residents, and physician trainees.
Skills and experience:
- Efficient and professional performance of duties
- Courteous treatment of patients, families, and colleagues
- Ethical decision-making to achieve organizational goals
- Continuous improvement of services for patients and staff
- Effective supervision and mentoring of junior medical staff
- Experience in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Mandatory Requirements:
- Specialist registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA as a Gerontologist
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
- Approval by the Townsville Hospital and Health Service Credentialing and Professional Standards of Practice Committee
- Proof of necessary qualifications and registrations
- Potential requirement to work at other facilities within the THHS
