SC1 Demonstrated high level understanding of wellbeing initiatives and appropriate qualifications to support students and staff with the implementation of strategies using a trauma informed lens.

SC2 Demonstrated capacity to lead change in the school environment to improve access for students and support implementation of behaviour strategies across the school, in the learning spaces and the playground.

SC3 Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents and other staff.

SC4 Demonstrated capacity to work with the Learning Specialist (Wellbeing) and as part of the wellbeing team to provide advice and support for students at risk.

SC5 Demonstrated capacity to actively contribute to whole school improvement initiatives and a commitment to ongoing professional learning for self and others to enable further development of skills, expertise and capacity in the area of behaviour support.

Role:

Schools can engage Student Wellbeing Officers to support the educational, social and emotional wellbeing of students.

Student Wellbeing Officers work closely with wellbeing and allied health staff in schools to support students and their educational outcomes, staff, families and the wider school community.


Responsibilities:

The Wellbeing Officer will:
- work with the Learning Specialist (Wellbeing) to improve student engagement and wellbeing.
- work onsite for 2 days per week. 0.4 EFT.
- refer families to, and work with, external agencies where needed.
- provide support both in learning spaces and the Alternative Lunch Program.
- support the AIP Engagement team.
- participate in Student Support Group meetings where applicable to support staff/students.
- regularly meet with students at risk and timetable/chronicle these meetings.
- provide small group SEL opportunities for students.
- provide support to families as required.

Location Profile:

Epsom Primary School is located on the outskirts of Bendigo in a rapidly growing community.

The school is situated in the heart of Epsom and is walking distance to the local shopping facilities and train station.

The school grounds connect directly with the local Bendigo Bike Track and runs adjacent to the Bendigo Creek.

The school's infrastructure was rebuilt in 2018 and provides a range of outdoor areas including natural play space. In 2023, the school will be operating with 21 classrooms and an enrolment of 440 students.
