The role


As part of Saab's role on the Hunter Class Frigate Program, the Combat Systems Architecture Modeller will play a key role in furthering the development of the Hunter Class Combat System.

This will entail both static definition and behaviour analysis.

The work is model based and defines the central point of truth for the combat system elements, interfaces and dependencies.

Outputs are derived from this source of truth using a combination of automated scripts and manual extraction.


Scope also includes the definition of the Platform Management System and the inclusion of networks, security and safety features within the Combat System design.


  • Under the direction of the Delivery Lead System Engineering, establish and maintain a static (System Architect) model of the Hunter Combat System
  • Develop Architecture models of Hunter CS based on a MODAF framework and tailored in the Hunter Combat System Modelling Plan
  • Create and maintain traceability to DOORS requirements and between model elements
  • Prepare architecture views as defined by the Modelling Plan covering Operational Views, System Views, Human Views and other views as required.
  • Work with System Owners to maintain the model in accordance with the functional and allocated baselines.
  • Generate system engineering documents (Combat System Design Description, Interface Documents and Operational Descriptions) from the model content
  • Guide the domain and SME System engineers in the structure and use the model
  • Maintain metrics within the model and generate metrics reports as requested
About you

  • Your skills and experience will include:_
  • Tertiary engineering qualifications in a related technical discipline
  • Experience in the engineering of system solutions across the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience relating to functional integration of systems with a preference for those used within the Maritime environment
  • Demonstrated ability in internal and external stakeholder management, including with the customer
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the system engineering (SE) process and SE outputs produced over the SE lifecycle
  • Demonstrated awareness and ability to address whole of capability/system issues, such as safety and supportability
  • Experience working in a model based systems engineering focused role
  • Welldeveloped written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work with others in a team environment.


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
