Lead Combat Systems Integration Engineer Description

The Role:

Navantia Australia is at the forefront of the Maritime and Defense sector, and as we continue to grow and take on new projects, we are seeking a Lead Engineer specialized in Combat Systems Integration to join our team at the Naval Design and Engineering Center in Melbourne, Docklands. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the integration of combat systems for naval vessels, leveraging your strong technical expertise and design knowledge.

This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic Engineering team, collaborate with industry experts, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge naval ship designs.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate within the Combat Systems division of Navantia Australia to deliver engineering services for naval ships.
  • Engage with various engineering disciplines in the Navantia Engineering Team to ensure effective teamwork.
  • Showcase high levels of technical expertise in naval engineering, particularly in Combat Systems Integration.
  • Lead and manage the Combat Systems engineering team to successfully execute projects and tasks.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Combat Systems functional team, including process development, team capability management, and technical mentoring.
  • Work closely with different engineering disciplines within Navantia Design and Engineering Center and across various Engineering teams.

Skills and experience required:

  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience in a technical and industrial defense environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage an engineering team.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge of ship outfit and equipment integration requirements.
  • Understanding of statutory regulations and Classification and Flag rule sets.
  • Experience in ship Combat System integration and its impact on ship design.
