What you will be doing:

  • An exciting opportunity has become available for a talented Hospital Assistant to join the team at the Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital and Springwood Hospital in a Full time or Part Time Permanent Position. The Hospital Assistants play an essential role in healthcare through their comment to keeping our hospitals and facilities clean and safe. This position is responsible for cleaning all sections of the Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital, including patient, public and office areas. Tasks may include waste collection and moving patient equipment, beds, furniture, and linen delivery.


This position is a shift work position and may include a variety of shifts, including morning, afternoon and night shifts, seven days per week, including weekends and public holidays.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  • Aboriginality

  • Demonstrated suitable experience and ability to perform general cleaning duties including operation of motorised cleaning machinery and cleaning equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, with all levels of staff, as well as patients and members of the public, read and understand essential documentation including safe work practices and infection control procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and respond to changes in cleaning requirements.
  • Ability to work various shifts within a 27/7 rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
  • An understanding of Work Place Safety (WH&S), Manual Handling and Equal Opportunity practices in the work place.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
