You will remain the primary point of contact for all patients and healthcare professionals.

To support your success in a position such as this, you will require prior medical surgical specialist experience combined with outstanding patient rapport skills and a professional approach towards your work.


This position is a full time position Monday to Friday (8:30am to 5:00pm), with a Wednesday working a later clinic from 12 noon to 8:00pm.

There is scope following the completion of your probationary period to maintain full time hours/days across a 9 day fortnight.


Key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Taking incoming telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries in a courteous and professional manner
  • Preparing and running patient clinics, including confirmation of patient appointments and arranging addon or emergency appointments as required
  • Processing of patient billing and receipting using Genie software (any prior exposure to Blue Chip software will be viewed favourable)
  • Preparing theatre quotes and booking theatre procedures including booking of prosthetics
  • Providing administrative support 2 days a week to a visiting Medicolegal Specialist (meet and greet and patient consultation billing only)
  • Typing of patient correspondence and surgery reports (this is a shared responsibility between both the Clinic Receptionist/Typist and the Practice Manager)
  • Conducting preoperative calls to patients and managing patient postoperative appointments
  • General administrative support to the team as required

To be closely considered for this position you will have the following skills/attributes:

  • A prior background working in a similar position (preferably within a surgical specialist practice)
  • A positive 'can do' attitude and willingness to learn and further develop your skills in a surgical specialist practice
  • Fast and accurate typing skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of organisational and time management skills
  • Strong computer literacy (ideally with Genie software or alike)
  • A compassionate person willing to go the extra mile and work within a team environment


This position is working within one of Brisbane's major private hospitals therefore it is a requirement that you be appropriately vaccinated against Covid19.
